I work at a small Civil design firm and the older guys are still using spreadsheets to track project budets for design. Since I'm moving into the management role and come from a heavy construction background I am looking to track project budgets using cost codes and I dont want to input everones timesheets into a spreadsheet every week. I'm looking for software that can do this for us that is reasonably priced for a small design firm. Hope employees can input time each week and I just need to manage from overhead. Suggestions?

maybe the older guys know something you dont???

One place kept track in what looked like a law firm would use to track project budgets. That was also the company timesheet system. You billed by project number, and task by .5 hour increments. Everyone would spend 30 minutes to an hour filling this thing out once a week. Dotproject is something that can do this in a web browser, but you probably want it already tied into the timesheet system.

Not sure of actual cost of a license but we use Heavy job for our cost tracking. We also use a tablet based companion software that employees can input their hours into and send inot.

Add task codes to the time sheet and job numbers. Then accounting will have the data you need every week. Accounting will get the data punched in in about 1/4 of time required by the individuals.
