B31.3 341.3.4 discusses progressive sampling. However, I am unclear on item (e) if any of the items examined as required by (c)
above reveals a defect, all items represented by the progressive
sampling shall be either
(1) repaired or replaced and reexamined as
required, or
(2) fully examined and repaired or replaced as necessary,
and reexamined as necessary to meet the requirements
of this Code.
If all of the items represented by progressive sampling up to this point (e) were repairs wouldn't there be more progressive sampling to do? The code makes it sound as though at this point that would be the end of progressive sampling. Or would you have to examine all of the welds that the welder did?
