Hi all, hoping that some one can give me a bearing!
I am looking for a programmable board with an RJ45 port to support TCP/IP socket programming.
Basically the board will be similar to the Tibbo EM500EV Evaluation System, but without the serial port. It would be ideal if the board could be programmable in C/C++ or even python.
That is any programmable RJ45 board nothing more nothing less.
Thanks in advance.

1. If it only has an Ethernet port, what do you expect it to do when you're done programming it? Host a website?

2. Why not just buy the cheapest board that has what you want, and just not use the parts you don't need?

I think any suitable off-the-shelf board is at least likely to have USB (for programming), power and some I/O in addition to the RJ45 port, so hopefully that's not a problem.

My first recommendation would be the BeagleBone:

Otherwise, check out these other options:

Why not try a raspberry pi.

Cheers all for your contributions !!!
Yes the raspberry would be quite ideal and it can do what I have in mind and more.
But the fact still remains that it is way above my plans - it has too much functions as per se.
I just need the minimum for the project I have in mind. Any other function is not necessary.
Cheers once again.

Well, if you are planning to buy thousands, talk to the board manufacturers and ask if they'll sell you a depopulated version.

Well besides having ethernet capability what exactly DO you need?

(RCM6700 series maybe)
maybe an arduino type board.. There are a few "clones/knock-offs" with built in ethernet and little more than some i/o pins
