Hello,

Does anyone is aware of some studies made on analysis of process water effluent in a refinery?
why some process unit with certain conditions produce more water than other?

the aim of my study is to minimize the water that is produce in the process ( e g FCC..)

You will find quite a bit of information on the composition of petroleum refinery process water effluents from this book:

"Aqueous Wastes from Petroleum and Petrochemical Plants", published by John Wiley and Sons, 1967.

Copies of the book are available in a great many universities worldwide.

As for your second question:

One of the primary reasons for process water effluents from various refinery units is that many of the units use live stripping steam and/or live steam to maintain catalyst fluidization in FCC units. The various units use different amounts of live steam injection and therefore they produce varying amounts of process water effluents.
