HI,

I have an assembly together of an intake manifold, an intake tube, and a rubber elbow connecting the two. I want to subtract the volume of the assembly.

I have tried the component operations>cut out, but I am not having any luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks alot.

Make sure you have the external reference settings in both the assembly and the model that will have the cut outs set to allow all. You may also need to set some or all of these config.pro options:

allow_ref_scope_change YES
default_ext_ref_scope ALL
default_object_scope_setting ALL
default_object_invalid_refs COPY
ignore_all_ref_scope_settings YES
model_allow_ref_scope_change YES
scope_invalid_refs COPY

I did not understand what the external reference settings were. Can you please explain?

Thank you again.

Check your accuracy settings as well.
Usually works best if all objects are set to absolute accuracy, and have the same value (more important if the different objects vary much in size and complexity).

Thank you again.

In part mode it is under edit/setup/ref control. You have to set it to All.
In assembly it is in the same place plus there is an even more confusing tool under tools/assembly settings/reference control

In our version (creo), I found reference control under tools>assembly
settngs>reference control, all parts were already set to "all".

How do I check my accuracy settings?

Thanks!
