Hi all,

Anybody using edrawings 2007 to view old (Autocad 2000) .dwg's? We're trying to implement edrawings/Solidworks but the edrawings viewer is having problems viewing AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop version 5 native .dwg's.

Any thoughts?

I only have eDrawings 06 and can view ACAD 06 dwgs no problem. I have not tried other versions.

Handleman,

The problem is we want one viewer that will view both .dwg's and solidworks files. The other issue is that we're moving away from Pro/E, and I've batch published all our Pro/E drawings as edrawings 2007 files.

I think it's a bug in edrawings 2007. I have edrawings 2006 on my computer and it views the .dwg's fine.

Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks.

From the SW KB:

Question:
When opening a DWG file in the free eDrawings® Viewer, "Error reading file" displays. What does this mean?

Answer:
In most cases, this error will be shown if trying to open an unsupported version DWG file. eDrawings® 2007 SP0 does not support opening DWG files from AutoCAD® 2007.

That was the only answer to instability when opening DWG files in Edrawings.

I contacted my reseller and she was able to duplicate the problem. Seems like a bug, and she notified Solidworks tech support.

Have you tried eDrawing sp1 yet?

Gildashard,

Yes, I am using eDrawings 2007 SP1.

Just had a Customer complain about this to me and SW didn't nor myself can reproduce it... come to find out they are using Windows 98 machines. Which are not supported to my knowledge with the viewer.
