Problem of Detaching of rod from the cam

Hi All

I have a mechanical gripper that its axis is connected and guided by a cam , for me it's important to regulate the speed of the cam , but increasing , the rod might get disconnected from the cam, is the any solution to this problem ?

Increase spring force holding rod to cam. Use grooved cam.
