Probe Wake Frequency

Hello Members

Could some advice me if there any software i can use to find wake frequency for a probe please? I need to find insertion length to a process line.

any links to the software or calculators would be really helpful

Try talking to Jiskoot.
They have a program to calculate this for their insertion probes.
They may be able to help you out.
Nothing on their website so you may need to talk to one of their people.

A probe manufacturer that knows their business can calculate the dtails. Although lacking some of the appropriate constantes, I use the Thermowell Design Considerations per ASME PTC 19.3 Chapter 1, General with Current Well Nomenclature Updates as my basis for calculating probe lengths to determine if a problem is likely.

Check the IEC standard TR61831 Annex B equation B.6. I don't have a copy of the IEC standard but see it referenced for probe calculations.

the wake frequency is simple enough, but I suspect that you need to calculate the natural frequency of the probe as well.

Exercise caution with vendor provided thermowell calculations as some are restricted to certain sizes ranges and shapes specific to temperature measurement.

oft times you are better off with a simple beam calculation
