Hi

I am currently running a migration project to migrate historic cad data from Pro/PDM to PDMLink (via. Intralink). We currently run silicon graphics machines (unix) on a classified network for all design activities. PTC have asked us to supply them with 2 of our Pro/PDM databases for assessment. However they do not want the database constructed from the actual files. They have requested the 'metadata' from the database. My knowledge extends as far as knowing metadata is data about data (as i am a day-to-day ProE user (so not too familiar with the admin side of things). Does anyone know how i might extract the metadata from a database? Would this be done through Pro/PDM or are there a series of UNIX commands? Any help much appreciated!!! Stew

If you are using PTC's GSO for your migration support, they should be able to provide you with the proper SQL scripts to extract the data they want. They provide us with the scripts for extracting Intralink data for their migration efort estimate.

As a side note about GSO, budget about 50-75% higher than their quotation! The slightest change from the original SOW, will result in additional charges.
