Hello I'm doing a simulation for a biodiesel plant.
I need agree two new components in database of simulator (tripalmitine: triglicerid of palmitic acid)and (ethylpalmitate: esther of palmitic acid)
I did it but I don't know how can I obtain binary interaction parameters of these substances in PRO/II without laboratory data.

The only respectable method of estimating VLE interaction parameters, when measured VLE data are not available, is the UNIFAC method. Unfortunately, there are no UNIFAC "groups" for the compounds you have listed.

Therefore, you must first answer the following questions:

(a) Are the various binaries in my simulation likely to be highly non-ideal (infinite dilution activity coefficients very far from unity)?

(b) Is either of these two compounds a key component in any separation?

(c) Are these two compounds present in very large concentrations so as to influence the VLE of the key components, if they themselves are not the keys?

If the answers to any of the three questions is yes, then you have no option but to request a good lab to do your VLE measurements. This can get expensive in a hurry, but not as expensive as a failed design.

Thank you UmeshMathur, your answer is very valuable!!!
