Is there any way to print just part of a solidworks drawing (ie, zoomed in on just one view)?

As far as I know, the only print options for a dwg are 1) scale entire drawing to a page or 2) print the drawing at a specified zoom. When you specify the zoom, it always centers the drawing when it prints.

When working with a part file, there is the option to print 'Same as Window'. Is there a similar option like this for drawings?

I've managed with 'print screen' and then paste that into another program and print it out. Just hoping there's an easier way.

Thanks,
Lou

Yes, there is a way.
File/print. Under 'Print range', select 'Selection'. A new dialogue box will pop up, along with an outline box. Move the outline box to the section you want to print and adjust the scale so that the outline box encompasses the area.

Jeff,
Exactly what I was looking for. This is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

GLED,

Have you noticed that small print under Jeff's posting where it says: "Thank JMirisola for this valuable post!"?
It is there for you to click on it.

Hi, JMirisola:

When I select "Selection" option and click "Ok" button on "Print" dialog box, a new dialog box ("Print Selection") comes up with the following options:

. Model scale (1:1);
. Sheet scale (2:1);
. Custom scale.

But I do not see the outline box. Do you know what is wrong with my setting?

Thanks,

Alex

Alex,
The outline box should appear in the graphics area. It may be blending in with the back ground. It'll have a pushpin in the upper lefthand corner.

Hi, Jeff:

Thanks! I found the outline box myself. It was not visible because it was outside of my drawing sheet. After zooming out, I saw the outline box.
