I am looking for the best material or coating to resist mig weld slag buildup for fixture tooling such as locator pins and blocks. Teflon is not a possibility due its strength and durability.

I'm guessing that you mean spatter. An anti-spatter spray and frequent cleaning are all that is required.

dtwo,
Both previous posters are correct.
We use the anti-spatter technique on our plasma cutting fixtures where buildup cannot be avoided but much prefer setting the weld parameters to reduce spatter. Anti-spatter adds cost but adjusting the process can reduce costs.
Having preached the appropriate Lean responses, I will add that on occasion I have included brass inserts on fixtures to counter the problem you describe. I try to use alloys as close to those used on mig guns(gas cups) or resistance weld tips. They worked moderately well but do still need cleaning.
Maybe you have already looked at relocating your locators further from the welds or in more protected areas?
