Hi,

I would like to understand how to consider the effect of wind and earthquake in a finite element analysis according to ASME VIII-2.
The calculation software we have for design by formulas gives us the forces that are unloaded on the center of mass of the vessel for wind and earthquake (transverse and longitudinal) respectively. For wind it also provides a pressure. Can I insert these forces in the FEA model as forces and pressures acting on the lateral and frontal walls of the vessel or is a cfd analysis necessary to evaluate the effect of the wind (and therefore the pressure that this discharges on the vessel) having available the speed stability for a given site? And in the case of an earthquake is a vibrational analysis necessary? The FEA software I have is SolidWorks Simulation Professional, which does not allow non-linear and vibrational analysis.

Thank you

You would apply these as external forces or pressures.

Perfect, thank you TGS4.
