I want to calculate increase in pressure in empty vessel (volume is approx. 2m3) due to gas (methane) flow into the vessel at a known rate (approx. 6 standard m3 per minute).

Could a kind process engineer out there let me know how to do the calculation?

Thanks.

1.find the no. of moles going into the vessel per hour. (moles= wt of gas/mol wt)
2. use pv =znRT to find p; rest is known.

This is correct as long as the pressure inside the vessel is less than half the inlet pressure, i.e while the flow is choked.

If this is not schoolwork i would recommend that you go to a professional. The advice you get here is PNLY advice. You should not ask for a complete solution. How are you going to document your work?

Best regards
