I want to put a pressure load in a hydraulic cylinder such that the pressure is applied to the full length of the inside of the cylinder minus the head length which is threaded into the open end and minus the pison length.

Is there an easy way to apply pressure loads to only part of the surface?

TIA

Hi fsison,

You could create a surface region, as big as you need, inside your hydraulic cylinder (go on STRUCTURAL / FEATURES Menu) and then you can easily apply the pressure load directly on that.

Nettuno,

How do you apply surface regions to a cylindrical surface?

Thanks,

fsison,

The easy way to create a surface region into a cylindrical surface, as far as I know, is the following:
1)Move on FEATURES menu and select the following options : SURF REGION --> CREATE --> SKETCH --> DONE
2) Pick a plane through your cylinder axis (you should see your cylinder axis like a line on your sketch plane).
3)Draw a rectangle as big as you need and confirm (you'll project this sketch on the internal surface of your cylinder).
4)Include internal surface of your cylinder (where you should apply your pressure load).
5)Confirm.
You should have built your surface region.

Hope that helps.
Regards!
