Sometimes, I have a task (sucessor) with one predecessor. The predecessor complete date and the sucessor start date have a huge gap between them, and there's no obvious reason; the sucessor is not part of a summary task with a later date and the sucessor isn't tied to a later task either. The only way I can fix it is to recreate the sucessor, and I type in the same predecessor and successor; then it works. Does anybody know how to fix this? Thanks Much!

There are two places to look. The first is the predecessor column to make sure that the relationship is strictly finsh-start.

The second place to look is the task info dialog, both the Predecessor tab as well as the Advanced tab. The Advanced tab may have a oddball constraint.

Make sure that the succesor has no start constraints, but "As soon As possible".

Also make sure that there is only one predecessor, and the relationship is FS (Finish Start) WITHOUT lag.

Also look at the working calendars, it might be possible that coincidentially the gap is due to holydays.

Regards, Santo.
