Hi everyone i'm new here.
A courtesy, i need to calculate the preload on the bolts connecting the pump to his cover and to pinping.
Do you any code that would help me? or if you have any formula.
Thx

You have to have a lot more information than you posted for any meaningful help.

Your best bet would be to check the pump manual or contact the manufacturer for the tightening procedure.

Are you trying to figure out the proper torque spec. or what the clamping force of each fastener is?

If the later search the posts, there was a long thread last week that dealt with this - but basically anything you calculate will be an educated guess.

There are any number of methodologies to accomplish this.

As the others have said, you'd need to be more specific in outlining what your exact need is.

If the joint is pressure boundary, we commonly use ASME VIII, which will tell you the required bolt preload. However there are also many other more sophisticated methods.

sorry I did not answered before, yes I need to be more specific.

So, I'm working for a pump facility, and I need to determine the preload on bolts on the flanges between pipeline and the pump, and even the bolt assuring the cover to the pump for a variety of pressure and a variety of diameters and bolt.

I think that here no one has done this calculation before, and now I need it because is requested as documentation for a project, and I need to specify the proper torque on the bolt.

Maybe I will follow ASME as suggested, or even an EN norm as I'm writing form Italy.

thx to everyone.
Bye
