Pre-Engineered Metal Building

Is a pre-engineered building frame an ordinary, intermediate, or special moment frame? Or can it be any of these depending on what the owner/code requires?

It most generally will be on ordinary moment frame. For specific conditions it is possible to get up to an intermediate moment frame. Where the seismic design category falls into Category A, B, or C, it is likely that the manufacturer will use the method of setting R=3 to avoid all specialized detailing and joint design requirements.

Well, the reason I ask is because it is SDC "d". The PE bldg is braced with special masonry reinf. shearwalls. I beleive that the pe bldg frame musy only have to take 25% of the seismic load. Thx for your input.
