hi!

Do you know how we can measure the viscosity of powder?
Does it exist a model to describe the viscosity of powder when it does not flow?

thank you

Powders indeed have properties similar to liquids and flowability of powders to some extent corresponds to viscosity of liquids. There are other measures like flow function etc that are based on measurement of cohesion of powders. In allmost all variations of the measurement the shear stress is measured and plotted against the normal stress. From the curved line one calculates a flow function. Most of available equipment on the market performs calculations by a PC that is a part of the equipment. Search the google for "Jenike shear cell" or "Johanson indicizer" or "Freeman technology FT3powder rheometer" or "TSI aero-flow". A good source of information is the book "Powder Testing Guide" by L. Svarovsky, Elsevier Applied Science Publishers LTD 1987 ISBN 1-85166-137-9.
