Postproccesing in NASTRAN: Average or maximum stresses

Hi everybody! Nastran's postproccesing allows next way: Post options-Contour options-Data Conversion-Average or Maximum. I'd apprecite a lot if someone could tell me which contour type (average or maximum) simulates better or is closer to the reality. I know both are valid but I'd like to know which one people take as a valid result.
