Does anyone know what the unit weight for polymerized asphalt is for calculating yields or plan quantities? Illinois DOT assumes 112 lb*in/square yard for all asphalt materials. I know that using the Gmb would produce a better result, but I don't have a specific mix design yet. This would number would just be to get a good estimate that should be within 3% of the actual constructed tonnage.

skillz - From what IDOT tells you - you can calculate their "standard" unit weight. The actual unit weight depends on a number of things but, as we have found out here, it is most dependent on the specific gravity of the rock - our aggregate on my current job has a Gs of 3.0; most "codes"/"specs" assume 2.65 or 2.7. This not only affects the unit weight but also has a strong affect on the amount of bitumen you end up using as bitumen content is based on weights - not on volumes as it likely should be.
