I'm a decorative concrete contractor and I usually buy my decorative topping products from select manufactures who claim that their products are the only ones that can be colored and stamped. Though I'm convinced that I'm being misled, as these products are very costly.

I was wondering if I can substitute alternate products to achieve the same desired effect. I often use many Sika, (Chemrex) Deguessa, Mapei and Ardex products which, according to the MSDS appear to have the same chemical composition as the products I am currently using, and almost exactly the same characteristics. Though they're usually half the cost.
Unfortunately these leading manufatures do not make any claims as to their product's ability to accept coloring agents and stamped impressions, though I cannot understand exactly how much they could differ? After all, how much could a 2-component, (acrylic) polymer-modified, shrinkage compensated product differ from another?
Any advice would be appreciated?
Thanks,
