Hi. I am freshly graduated Chem-E just starting as an intern. I do not have much background in Polymers and my first project is to find a material that would crosslink using Ebeam. I want to try to find something that has a lower melting point then PP, but high enoug hto be able to withstand steam cleaning. Thanks.

You may have to plow new ground on this challenge. I have used Ebeam welding only in metals, but I have used heat staking and ultrasonics in plastics.

PP would not be a good choice either because imho it decomposes (softens) under influence of any radical agent like peroxide or electron beam.

PE is the usual crosslinkable polymer and there is a large field of applications e.g. hot water pipes. Look for PEX in google. It should also crosslink under electron beam, if the amount of crosslinking is not enough, use a co-agent as e.g. TAIC.
