SOS!
I'm trying to mill a pocket with one open side.
I'm cutting in one direction and plunging outside of the pocket.
I'd like to get a cutter path similar to the sketch.
Any thoughts?
I'd be glad to send the model if anyone can take a quick look...

Trying to avoid a trajectory, if possible??????

Mr Ray -
I guess I'd consider either a profile or trajectory sequence.
Profile sequence, with either a mill surface feature or direct model geometry, depending on what you want to control. Trajectory sequence is useful, too. Just depends on what you need, and how you want to cut it.
Any particular reason you want to avoid the trajectory option in this case? Just curious...

..well..

pretty easy in pro-e

i assume 1 and 5 are same points.

create an axis and give it as the start point.

I've tried various combinations of Mill Volume Sequences with little or no success with straight cuts as I have indicated in the sketch. One would think Pocketing would be more versatile.
TheRoughing Sequence is close, but the tool path willarc on and off the outside edges of the pocket.

I experimented with Trajectory and found it to be successful, with minimum input. Iguess knowledge of parameters and combinations thereof is key.
ProE iscomplex for sure, but for mundanetool paths it's challenging and time consuming.

Happy Easter!

Ditto to that,POCKETING never really worked for me.
