PLCopen automation programming: any opinons?

I've been fighting the vendor-specific motion control software battle for a while, have just come across the PLCopen association. Is anyone using this function block based programming? Does this association fit the same kinda role as OPC for industrial ethernet comms?

Have not used the PLCOpen standard yet, but I am investigating. It is much more than just function block based programming. It is all the IEC1131-3 languages.
I think you need to be using IEC1131-3 based systems to get the benefits.

I know of many companies that use Function Block programming but always the specific flavour of the system they use.
In time PLCOpen standards may enable the same source to generate to any IEC1131-3 based system.
Clearly you need to spend quite a bit of time understanding what it has to offer, register and download the documents etc
