The melting point for neat polypropylene can vary from about 130 [°]C to 165 [°]C, and it can reach almost 200 [°]C when filled (mica, etc.)
For identification of polymer materials, infrared spectroscopy is the standard technique. Thermal analysis, including melting points, can be determined using Differential Scanning Calorimetry.
