Plastic container and cap problem

hello, i`m having a problem with a plastic container we manufacture and its cap. the container (300 mL)is PP made by blowmolding. the problem consist in a overlap when I apply some force to the cap. i checked the diameters of the container screw and are the same of another container with diferent form, capacity(600 mL) and dimensions which use the same cap.

There could be a dozen reasons...first find the product drawing for the cap and the bottle neck and compare the dimensions of the drawings against the dimensions of the actual parts.minor and major diameters of both the cap and bottle also the thread form of both using a shadowgraph.

Um, trying to envision this, but as Mike says, a drawing or sketch or photo would probably help a lot. If this "overlap" is occuring when you tighten down the cap, and the threads bind on the bottle...is there supposed to be a gasket under the cap, and if there is one, is it the right thickness?

I have concerns for the OPs vs my understanding of the word overlap and how it is applied here. Frankly I really have no idea what he means.
