I have recently been tasked with finding an answer to a question. The question is, in NX, can you do like a walkthrough/flythrough animation of, let’s say, a plant layout. I would tend to say it should be possible (as long as the models are as basic as possible for memory). Possibly using the Motion Simulation or Advanced Simulation options. Has anybody tried or have any knowledge about this sort of thing? Would there be a better software that you would suggest instead (easy to learn)? From the sounds of it, they want to be able to lay out everything in the plant from 3D models and then have a walkthrough showing what it would be like. Before spending all of the money and time on the equipment. Any help would be appreciated.

I think that you can get what you need with plain NX. Have a look in the help files at "view navigation" (Home -> Fundamentals -> Viewing and rendering -> view navigation). This provides a way to "fly through" the model.

You might also try searching for "view navigation" here on eng-tips, you might find a few tips on using it.

You can do the walkthrough in NX using the "View Navigation" but it's not a fun task to perform...
(-the humble way of saying that the function su...s )

But, Siemens does have a viewer which comes in a number of different functionality levels, it starts of with JT2Go which is freeware, then steps further with Vis ...(something)It does have a working flythrough mode in, i think, the first level.
You can also do a lot of presentation tricks such as store snapshots of interesting viewpoints that you would like to show your customer.

When you work in NX you can have the option "Save JT data" on , which then as you save your parts also saves the viewer files in parallel.

Regards,
Tomas
