Plane Method for Curb Returns

Hello everyone this is my first post. Sometime ago someone had asked about curb returns and Riverside County, no one had replied to the question.

I was wondering if anyone had information about where to find a "worksheet" to calculate curb return elevations.

I hope I will have better luck than the previous poster.

One way I learned...

You know curb elevation and slope at the beginning & end of the returns, based on street centerline grade and cross-slope. Plot this information with vertical scale exaggerated, along the curb length. Draw in tangents of road slope extended, use them as a guide for beginning curb slope. Free-hand in a design grade, connecting endpoint elevation and slopes, with a gradual transition between. May need a vertical curve. You can adjust this design as necessary to have low points/catch basins avoid ramps, achieve desired cross-slopes adjacent to the curb, etc. Once designed to your satisfaction, you can read elevations off the plot if exaggerated enough. Now provide sufficient spot elevations on the drawings to convey intent, such as high/low point locations, elevations at 1/4 or 1/3 delta points, etc.
