Placement of sprinkler from roof 1in to max of 12in

Hi All,
So as per 8.6.4.1.1.1 (nfpa 13 2013 ed.) the sprinkler can only be 12in from the ceiling.
what about in case of structural beams that are running along the roof which are 900mm in depth? Do the sprinklers go 12in below the beam ?

You will either need to comply with the beam obstructions, or put a sprinkler in every pocket.
