I have a Piston made from 4140, flame hardened O/D and finish ground. It was stored on a wooden cradle with cardboard underneath. Unfortunately, there was no oil paper or other protective coating. I am seeing up to 0.016" pitting and localised corrosion where the cardboard was in contact (Frustrated). I cant remove material as it passes through a dust seal so I am looking for advice as what to do to stop the corrosion. Thanks in advance4.
