Hello everyone.

I would like to consult what piston material will be better for application of hydraulic cylinder used for ship un-loader. I thought of using AISI 1045 / AISI 1050 for this. Will this be fine? This cylinder is pressure tested to 350bars but operates only up to 250 bars. Cylinder bore size is 360mm. Also, what extrusion gap is best for the cylinder and piston using 2.5mm wear guide rings?

I would really appreciate any reply for this. Thanks.

The seal manufacturers have pretty specific info on tolerancing.

And their are specific sources for both cylinders and rods.
The surface hardness and finish must be tightly controlled.
Try contacting SCOT Industries.
