Can anyone advise me on the correct method for determining the minimum wall thickness required for mechanical strength - the retirement thickness - in ASME B31.3 calculations? Generally this varies from under 1mm to 5mm, increasing in line with the size of pipe but these values tend to vary slightly and I cant find any explanation for this.
