Piperack line spacing charts

Anybody know where i can find some piperack line spacing charts ? We have a set at present, but people are questioning wether they are right or not. I would like to compare them with those used by other companies/general practices.

If you'll give me your FAX number I can FAX a chart I have. I normally use this as a guide only because in the facilities I run across (in the oil fields) these spacing tend to be rather "tight", I normally add an inch or so, you can be the judge. This chart goes from 1" to 24" in both 150#, 300#, & 600#. Good Luck! ...Mark

I believe that the information that you are looking for is contained in an excellent text on piping system design.

The book is called: "Piping Guide" and the author is David Sherwood.It is a little expensive, but worth it...

Suggested maximum spacing between pipe supports for horizontal straight runs of standard and heavier pipe at maximum operating temperature of 750ººF (400ººC).

Does not apply where span calculations are made or where there are concentrated loads between supports, such as flanges, valves, specialties, etc.

The spacing is based on a fixed beam support with a bending stress not exceeding 2,300 psig (15.86 MPa) and insulated pipe filled with water or the equivalent weight of steel pipe for steam, gas, or air service, and the pitch of the line is such that a sag of 0.1 in. (2.5 mm) between supports is permissible
 
thanks for the reply unclesyd but i was looking for distance between centrelines of adjacents pipes in piperacks, not actual support spacings.
 
Piping designers typically allow 1" to 3" between the OD of a flange on one pipe run to the OD of a flange on the adjacent pipe for side to side spacing.

The assumption is made that each pipe run has a flange such that they are side by side which gives some additional slack for most cases.

Significant thermal movement of any of the pipe runs in the rack can require additional spacing.
