The initiation wire is more flexible and more easily handle-able than your product. As it's specifically designed for connecting between masterlinks, hooks, other wires it can easily be fitted to the DMA.
It's also cheaper and far more easily replaceable than your product. So you want the end of your product to be at position X,Y?
Lets say somewhere in the North Sea ( 6791500 N, 562000 E). Position your DMA 25m from that position and have your initiation wire 25m long. That means that when your wire is on the seabed your 1st end of your product will land at that position. By judicious positioning of your installation vessel and payout your 1st end will approach the seabed at say an angle of 30 degs to the seabed. The tensions in the initiation wire will vary from minimal to a benign sinusoidal tension as the wire gently takes up the slack as you pay out the product and move the vessel simultaneously.
If you did not have an initiation wire you would be stabbing vertically into the seabed and or DMA and you would have a crumpled buckled mess for a 1st end. You would also avoid a "tug-of-war" between the vessel chute and the DMA!
