Hi
1) What is normally practice of multiplier of NEMA SM23? for turbo machinery?.
2) Any concern of the straight length for discharge and inlet pipe for Turbo Expander?. What is value?

We recently designed a turboexpander/compressor unit from GE Rotoflow. They used a NEMA SM23 multiplier of 3 for nozzle loads. I don't recall their required straight lengths, but we couldn't achieve them. I believe it was on the order of 10 diameters for the expander suction and 5 diameters for the discharge. Our inlet piping was 30" diameter with 48" discharge.
