I recently enquired for a vendor to demonstrate that the provided compressor design considered inlet gas blowdown requirements as no vent port had been provided that would support this. The vendor indicated that inlet blowdown can be conducted via the recycle line by opening the bypass line on the recycle line PV. As I have never seen this undertaken, what are your views on the consideration from the vendor? Any challenges with this consideration? what would be the alternative?

Thank you

as described, it can be accomplished PROVIDED the bypass/recycle valve does OPEN and the bypass piping is within the compressor inlet/discharge valves. this arrangement is commonly found in PD compressors. alternative is blowdown valves/piping on both inlet/discharge of PD compressor, which cost more.
