Pipe Joint Design

I'm not understanding pipe joint design tolerances for alignment. the drawing shows a 1/16 + or - 1/32. would this allow me to accept a fit up 3/16? or is this telling me to spit the difference on opposite sides of the pipe? I've been trying to find a explanation in B31.3

Typo 3/32 not 3/16 if this is acceptable then less then 1/32 wouldn't be. that is theoretically incorrect cause zero is perfect

If you are designing assemblies that are dependent on how tapered pipe threads mate, you are either in big trouble, or assured of work writing change notices for the rest of your life, or the rest of the company's life, whichever ends sooner.

Or perhaps I am misunderstanding your question, absent 'the' drawing to which you refer.

Mike this is a weld joint design, typically on the drawing it would show a tolerance of 1/16 thats all

Draw your pipe-to-pipe joint, then post it.

Your question will have different answers - if any sense can be made of it at all - depending on what is being tolerance.
