Pipe Bridels

What is the criteria for using pipe bridles for horiztal vessels for level gauges, level switches, etc.? For small vessels they are not needed. However, at what diameter should they be used.

I believe your question really is.."What is the shortest pipe bridle in use ?"

The answer to that question, really is......What is the shortest gauge glass in use ? (In my experience, the bridles that exist typically contain a gauge glass)

I believe that the shortest glass that is offered commercially is 24 inches....

No. What I am talking about is that for small diameter vessels the level gauge, level switch, etc. are often direct connected to the vessel. At some diameter, then pipe bridles are used to mount these instruments rather than direct connect them. I assume that the pipe bridle is used to provide better access for calibration and maintenance. Or, is there something else I do not understand.
