Can anyone tell me where to look for details of pipe bedding? I got this storm drain repair work using a combination of elestomeric couplings, clay wye fitting, and cpvc pipe. The depth from top of the pipe to ground surface is about 30". I am also interested in what type of soil should I use that will meet requirements for both the CPVC and the Clay.

You should also check local regulations for bedding/backfill requirements both within and outside the public right-of-way.

Your State DOT should have specs as well.

Yep, what gbam said...know your DOT Standard Specs. Here in Florida, it is normal practice for Contractors to construct the pipe bedding with a layer of clean fill dirt (for draining purposes). If there is constant water table issues than small bedding stone is used and typically wrapped in Filter Fabric to the required grade and then the pipe is installed.
