Wondering if anyone can comment on whether some old software like WEAP87 is still relevant for basic applications.
 
I have never used the software but I imagine if you know its limitations it can be applied for basic applications. Just note that your approving body (if you need approval) may require you to use the latest version.

I am speaking from experience when we were not allowed use a slope stability program because it was two version old, however Still within the last 5 years between our version and the latest. I think in our instance we were just unlucky that we got an idiot as a reviewer.
 
Contact GRL and see what's the difference. I've only used WEAP2010.
 
Thanks. I decided to just go with grlweap2010.
 
FHWA's recommended 2% of desired capacity as a hammer weight is probably better than using a software that you are not familiar.
