Hi,
I'm new to this maritime area. I'm a structural engineer.
I am designing a dolphin supported by concrete filled steel pie piles (36" dia). Using all vertical piles it gives me high deflection (~ 1.5 in.) & also high tension & lateral load. The pile is going to be attached with rock socket. Can I rely on the tensile (& also lateral)capacity of rock socket? In other words, define max loading on the pile & geotech will design the rock socket for required strength (total loafding minus pile capacity)? How is this generally handled? Also does rock socket take care of deflection? if so how do I account it? Thank you so much.
