Pile caps depth

Hi,

Is there a specific rule from Eurocodes about minimum depth of a pile cap?

I am aware that the minimum depth of a pile cap is governed, most of the times, by the pile reinforcement lap for example if H25 then 40 x 25 = 1000mm (depth)

However I found on internet the below suggestions:

If diameter of pile < 550mm: thickness = 2 x diameter of pile
If diameter of pile > 550mm: thickness = 1/3[(8 x diameter of pile)-600]

So my question is if there is somewhere a rule on BS or EC about the minimum depth of a pile cap as recommendation?

That is the formula suggested by Reynolds and Steedman ..

Pile cap thick D= 2Dp + 100 if Dp< 550 mm (Dp = pile dia )

Pile cap thick D= ( 8Dp-600)/3 if Dp > 550 mm

JOSE CALAVERA (Manual for Detailing Reinforced Concrete Structures to EC2 ) suggests

D ≥ 400, 1.5X Dp
