Pile Cap Resting On Concrete Piles 1

Hello everybody,

I have deep foundation located near the area where water table level is more or less 1.5m from ground surface. A pile cap is to be constructed at a deep as the same level of that water table. My concern is, I could not completely keep the the water down below the bottom of pile cap and besides, compaction of subgrade soil to 95% compaction density is not possible. Is it ok to cast lean concrete under pile cap without necessary compaction of the soil beneath? Please, any opinion on this case from the experts..Thanks you..

If the cap is pile supported, why are you worrying about compaction of the cap's subgrade? As long as the subgrade is good enough to support the wet concrete and let the cap concrete harden, the final load should be on the piles, not the subgrade.

You can use water table correction factors to modify your design, just like the ones which terzaghi's bearing capacity design offers.
