Hi

I have access to a Microchip picstart plus pic programmer, but I need to program atmel 89c2051 pics. Can this be done. I would think one can get software capable of doing this somewhere, but cannot seem to find any.

thanks
Richard

No, but according to there site it is not supported. I was hoping somebody will now of some third party software that can do this.

Can't be done Mate! You need a programmer for the Atmel AVR and you can get one from DigiKey for about $70.

Try IGUANALABS.COM. They have an excellent programmer capable of progrmming atmel 89c2051 and some other chips.

Cheers

Sorry to say that I think that you will be hard pressed
to get an ATMEL microcontroller to be programmed by a PIC
controller. However, with a little effort on your part,
you can easily whomp up a wire wrapped programmer for
free.

A quick google search showed a link to a build it yourself
programmer, using the parallel port of a pc.

You might want to take a look at:

a $35.00 kit from:

another "freebie"

There are more out there. I guess the point being, is
that the programmer you have now is not compatible with
the AVR chips. Sorry.

Cheers,

Rich S.
