photoreal furniture competition 2005

Not sure if you guys care so much but we have this evening announced
the photoreal furniture competition. The furniture up there is all
computer rendered with Alias Maya or Image Studio to name a few. One
that supposedly usesa gyroscope does not look possible. Well, you know it is fake anyway. Interesting though.

The gyroscope is in the wrong direction. It can only prevent the chair from falling sideways.


I hate designers who fail to do even the most basis research in validating their ideas. All you need to do in this case is get you a toy gyroscope, give it a decent pull and then feel what the forces are.

A large plate rotating under the seat (horizontally) would have the desired effect andwork better because it can have a much larger diameter. Humming vibrations of the drive motor might even have a pleasant side-effect-feeling ...
