I am designing some custom bushes which must be a phosphor bronze material or very similar.
I have a copy of "BS EN 12163 Copper and copper alloys — Rod for general purposes" in my hand.
The choice is bewildering.
The requirements are:
No lubrication.
Room temperature low humidity environment.
25 year life.
EN24 or similar shafts. Shaft diameter 20-50mm range
Oscilating rather than continuous rotation.
Low number of cycles (10,000-20,000 range) and very low loads during normal operation.
Occasional very high static bending loads (stick in a hole then a big transverse load on the stick)
Occasional low impact loads on the bush flat face.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Regards,
Gwolf
