We are working on a Condensate polisher unit and require pH correction system at the outlet to raise pH up to 9.0 from 6.5
What are the typical chemicals used for pH correction. Is ammonium hydroxide an option?
What is the Commodity chemical name, typical concentration, dosing concentration, dosage rate for a flow of 225 m3/hr
Also advise the material typ used for such checmicals

Thanks
NM

Dear Niss,

Sodium Carbonate / Sodium Hydroxide is used, it is commonly called caustic.

The calculations are to be done as per the caustic concentration. Contact any chemical company / precess engineer in this regard.

Regards.

Thank you Sen,

I don't think NaOH or Sodium based chemicals are dosed due to the Na load add on to the boiler feed water.

Can we back up a bit, how on earth did your pH get to 6.5?
Is this room temp pH or pH at operating temp?
What treatment system does this plant use (phosphate, AVT, OT) ?
What is your current water chemistry, Na, O2, cond, and so on.
There are a lot of chemicals used, but it must be compatible with your treatment system.

It is operating temp @55 deg C, the pH range is 6.5 - 8, while the correction system to be designed for a basis of 6.5 to raise it to 9
Every CPU system based on reducing conductivity, silica, Na, Cl and pH always near neutral at the outlet. Here it is 0.1 mS/cm cond.
