Good afternoon, dear experts.

Could someone explain how to define "the shorter side of angle" to understand which deviation have to aplied according to ISO 2768-1.
In attachment there is an example, when position of a hole in a casing part is difined by an angle from the horizontal split and distance from the central axis. The one side of the angle is easy to detect. Which option - "a" or "b" is correct for other side? The result is +-20' for option 1 and +-5' for option 2.

It's ambiguous (both the standard and the application in this drawing). As such, I'd consider it to be whatever gives the widest tolerance as the designer. As the manufacturer I'd assume the narrower tolerance to minimize the chance of rejection. If it's critical to control, more advanced geometrical tolerancing should be used. Alternatively, the tolerance should be explicitly stated to reduce the ambiguity.
 
Hi, taraskaz:

What is side "a" in option #1? Is there a feature controlling length of this side? It does not make sense to have such a short side unless there is a feature associated with it.
