I have a site under remediation. A perched aquifer sits above a Stage V or VI calcrete that prevents the perched aquifer from migrating downward. I was recently told that contamination has been found beneath this layer in the underlying soil gas. Has anyone looked at the permeability of calcrete and does it make sense that SVOCs and VOCs would diffuse though such a layer?
